hangover

the island of Murano, off the coast of Venice, is renowned around the world for its exquisite glass works and the glass blowing industry. suffice to say that this very small island has one main pre-occupation. geographically, though, it is nobody’s pre-occupation, except for tourists who read nothing but tourist books and brochures. so its economy depends mainly on these people who can go to any lengths to get the perfect photograph and don’t remember the name of the bridge when they get home. but, we all have our indulgences, so we will make our peace with that.

coming back to point in question, so, when you walk into a delicate store, thousands of miles from the world you know, with hundreds of small breakable pieces of glass in every size, shape and colour and fantasy imaginable, you don’t really expect to see a huge photograph, framed in a glass frame (of course!) of the owner of the store standing with Hugh Grant, her smile shining brighter than all the glass behind her!

Moral of the story:

Q- How do people of a small island that is almost lost in the middle-of-nowhere survive or earn their livelihoods?
A- with grants that are hughs!
