1.
The waves come rushing up,
They scream and dance,
And sing and shout,
Push, pull, jump, fall.
All for a moment of your time,
But alas, they fall short,
They know they are not wanted
They simply do their job.
Mere spectators,
To the spectacle on the shore.
The waves try,
Try to impress and swallow your footprints,
Promise no sign of your presence,
Hide your words behind their continuous ditties.
But on the sand is where the action is,
The rocks know all our secrets,
The dirty ones too.
The rocks provide support,
The rocks hide your flaws,
The rocks cover you when you need them.
The waves merely promise,
But swallow you alive when challenged.
No wonder they crash against the rocks
So violently. In anger.
